“It was lovely to meet you both at the road show.
I’d just like to thank you for your help and advice.
To be honest I don’t normally go to these kind of events but I was persuaded by my BDM that it might be beneficial. Firstly the advise you gave me re business rates has saved me £2000 on my two pubs I just logged on to the website as you advised and the saving was instant £1000 directly off each rates bill! My accountant who’s pretty clued up hadn’t told me about this.
I also spoke to him about the employers contributions and again a £2000 saving this is a great help to me, my employers contributions are certainly something I consider when taking on new staff and to know That I will get this amount knocked off my PAYE bill helps me plan further staff recruitment.
Thanks for the great advice re stamp duty on my lease renewal another Huge saving I’m just glad you’re not on commission!!
It’s very comforting to know you’re at the end of the phone You really are a fountain of knowledge.”
I have been a member of the Federation of Licensed Trade Victuallers Associations for 4 years now.
During a large part of this membership they have been assisting me in my negotiations with my landlord regarding my rent review. It was a long protracted negotiation and i welcomed the input and help provided by the Association.
Despite a proposed increase in my rent of just under 10%, with their assistance the final figure was agreed at a figure just more than a 20% reduction in the rent I had been paying.
The resultant credit which followed, for my overpayment, enabled me to invest in my business again and gave me the confidence to plan for the future.
I would highly recommend to every self employed licensee to become a member and make use of all of the services they have on offer.
I would like to express many thanks on behalf of myself and my husband for the invaluable help and advice we received from the FLVA in taking over a 10 year lease at the above address.
In this day and age it was refreshing to be treated as two normal people instead of just a number on someone's books! They are very personable and we have advised fellow landlords to join the organisation based purely on the marvellous job done for us.
Thanks again and our best regards.
I have been in the licensed trade for six years and recently decided to join the FLVA. The starter pack I received was full of useful and practical information, especially regarding staff contracts and disciplinary procedures.
I subsequently had a staff problem and was able to deal with it in the correct way thanks to the information and advice I received from the FLVA.
You are kept updated with the ever changing laws and requirements of a licensee. It is reassuring to know that I am a member of such a helpful organisation and that assistance is just a phone call away.
I have been a member of the FLVA for many years and just recently have been involved with a very lengthy rent negotiation with my landlord which wasn't progressing and was long overdue. This concerned me as I wanted to get the situation resolved.
I contacted the Federations office and explained the situation I was in, provided them with the information which they asked for and they contacted the landlord on my behalf. The negotiations continued and I was involved with the decisions without having to directly negotiate the review. I agreed the new rent at a level that I was happy with and I could then start to concentrate again on the day to day running of my pub much to my relief.
